Mountain Hardwear recently revised this three-season tent, reinforcing the pole design with Atlas Scandium SL, a hard alloy built to withstand over 109,000-psi of intense pressure. This enhanced strength allows for thinner pole walls that reduce weight without compromising structural integrity. The Hammerhead 3 features a double door and a double pull out vestibule design, allowing for an easier exit for those sleeping along the sides. In the event of rain or snow, the fly has a large UVX sky window, so you can keep an eye on changing weather. The same window material used in expedition-quality tents, UVX is a proprietary clear material that's been tested at 27,000 feet and resists clouding like PVC or plastic film. It even stays flexible all the way down to -66 F. Not that you would want to pitch a tent and sleep outside in those conditions for very long.
